I get a restless feeling
when Spring is in the air.
I long to go back to the country;
I was raised there.
To smell that fresh cool breeze
that comes with Spring,
And see a new born calf
and the rebirth of every living thing.
To see the sun glistening
on the melting snow
And watch the water running
to and froe,
To see the crocuses blooming
here and there,
Pick them
and put just one in my hair.
The wonder that is there
can no where else be found
For that is where I was taught
that love is all around,
To walk the prairie once again,
wild and free without a care,
And from sun up to sun down,
marvel at the beauty there.
Then the stars begin to shine
in all their heavenly glory.
They glitter in the sky
like diamonds on a velvet gown.
It is so quiet and peaceful
but there's beauty all around.
I am there once again;
but only in my memories.
