Christmas is a family time,
to share smiles, and laughter too.
Lights lit on the christmas tree,
bring many thoughts of you.
Songs of the holiday season,
are sung by young and old.
The stockings are hung on the mantle,
smiling as we come in
from out of the snow and the cold.
Children so excited, Santa is on his way.
Turkey in the oven,
smells the house of Christmas Day.
Yes Christmas surely is the time.
For friends and family to spend a loving day.
But what about those people,
that spend Christmas all alone.
No turkey, no lights, no presents,
no special place to call a home.
The poor ... the sick ... and the elderly,
all seem to be forgotten.
Homeless poor little children,
will awake with not even a stocking.
So many people out there,
so many afraid and all alone.
It surely makes me thankful,
for my family and my home.
Then there are those people.
who yearn to be with family
... friends or that special someone.
But simply cannot be there,
their love and thoughts are so many miles apart.
Christmas can also be a sad time for many.
Lost loved ones, that won't be there this year.
That empty place setting,
that will not be filled this year.
But Christmas is a special time,
to reflect on days gone by.
Our early days of childhood,
To the older friends and family that have died.
To the lonely and the sad,
to the happy and the glad.
This is all apart of christmas.
So as the old songs go,
"I'll be home for Christmas",
and "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas",
No matter who and where you are.
Let's not forget the true meaning
and the true spirit.
Merry Christmas to all
and to all a goodnight.
