Dad it has been over a year now,
my heart still cries for you.
But I know you are in a better place,
where the skies glisten all a blue.
I remember the morning I got the call,
that you had left for heaven.
I thought why dad, did you leave me?
I am not ready for this ending.


 
Then I remembered all those good times,
and laughed between the tears.
Not father through blood,
but growing love throughout the years.
So many happy times,
laughter and the smiles.
The love you gave to me,
as an adult and a child.


 
You walked a long road,
you paid along the way.
In health and sickness,
your smile was a shining ray.
I know that you grew tired,
but you never grew weak.
Up until your dying day,
your smile showed to people on the street.


 
Dad I miss you so much,
no words can explain.
But I do believe I see your smile,
when my sadness turns to pain.
I know you want me to go on,
be as happy as you were.
And deep down inside my heart
I feel you even closer than before.


 
So spread your gentle wings dad,
and fly those glistening skies.
Your daughter here on earth,
will not say her last goodbye.
Until we meet again,
I will smile your smile for you.
The love I hold deep in my heart.
Is a daughters love so true.
