There is a man who is in my life since the day I was born.
He watched me crawl, take my first step,
take my first bus ride, gave me my first horse.
He taught me to drive the old John Deere,
how to help in the birthing of a new born calf.
He taught me so many things with the life on the farm,
along with his parents, my grandparents --
they taught me the good feeling of working hard
the pleasure of working side by side
with Mother Nature.

Over the span of my life time
we became more than just father and daughter
somewhere along the way we became best friends.
We work hard for each other
no request is ever unselfishly denied,
we hold such respect for each other.
There's such an unspoken bond we hold
that makes our father/daughter relationship
so strong that even death could not destroy.

Something in my life changed
life got complicated and hard
which made me feel very afraid, unsure and sad.
In this lifetime of mine
I've been very lucky
to have a father ... a friend
who comes to me when shadows of uncertainty
clouds my day and makes me so unsure where to go next.
He is always there to help me
push that heavy dark cloud away.

No matter what I do
no matter what direction my life takes
he is always there for me.
He holds my hand
or cheers for me from the sideline.
For the things I have to face in my life
that sometimes makes me weak in my knees
he is "always" there to pick me up.
Even the times I would fall
'cause of the direction my life has taken
he never fails to pick me up and carry me
to show he truly understands.

I've been so blessed to be born his daughter
so many threads of my tapestry has been with him
the dances we shared ...
the trips we traveled together ...
the tears, laughter, sadness, and joy we experienced ...
in the death of loved ones, how we held each other ...
family reunions he supported me on ...
so many golden threads in my life has been him.

Thank you dad,
for being that one
"special" golden thread
in my life.
